Toevallig was er een vraag op 'mijn' clickerforum van een mevrouw die wilde weten hoe ze haar paard kon leren niet meer zo op het bit te kauwen.
Het antwoord van een collega, maar dan een wereldberoemde, was om het een tijdje zonder bit met een halster te doen en dan langzaam al clickerend het bit te herintroduceren.
Piet zou Piet niet zijn als hij haar niet een pbtje stuurde met de vraag waarom ze niet gewoon adviseerde om dat bit uit de mond te laten..... Ha!
Eerst krijg ik een tik op mijn fikken omdat ze met haar antwoord iemand probeert de juiste trainingstechniek aan te leren en even later geeft ze een antwoord op mag je iemand dwingen

Are you asking why I did not just tell the person who’s horse was having a problem with the bit to just eliminate the bit all together… forever? After all, I recommended no bit as part of re-education. Why not leave it that way? It is a good question.
My answer is, yes, that is an option. You are right, it may be that going permanently bitless would work out very well. I didn’t suggest that because this person didn’t ask if the bit was actually necessary, she asked what to do about the fact that the horse was reacting as he was. I wanted to show how to break a problem down and reward the right steps. If being able to ride WITH a bit was the objective, I gave an answer that could achieve that goal. Not all people are ready to hear, why not just go bitless!
